ABOUT SHIRLEY
Hi, I'm Shirley.
I am a digital photographer based in the beautiful coastal village of Southwest Rocks on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales. After a career teaching Textiles & Design, my love for creativity evolved into a full-time passion for photography. Today, I specialize in Digital Photography Designs, bold, vibrant, and uniquely digital artworks inspired by Australia's natural beauty.

CHAPTER 01
The Beginning
How It All Began
My journey into photography started as a creative hobby, but it truly took off after retirement and during the quiet reflection time of the COVID-19 pandemic. I began experimenting with digital editing techniques to transform my images into something more expressive and artistic. That curiosity quickly blossomed into a signature style that captures not just what I see, but what I feel.
CHAPTER 02
The Breakthrough
My Breakthrough Moment
In 2022, our local camera club was invited to exhibit at the newly opened Southwest Rocks Community Art Gallery. Encouraged by friends who admired my digital work, I showcased a solo collection as part of that event. It was my first major step into the art world — and it confirmed that my unique vision resonated with others. Since then, I've continued to create and exhibit, with work that now includes landscapes, coastal scenes, wildflowers, flora, and pet portraiture.
CHAPTER 03
The Inspiration
What Inspires Me
Australia is my muse. I find endless inspiration in the colors and forms of nature, especially in spring when wildflowers bloom across Western Australia. The Kimberley region, the red desert around Uluru, and my home in Southwest Rocks all offer their own kind of magic. I have a soft spot for the delicate flannel flower, which often appears in my work as a tribute to the coastal beauty around me.
A BIT ABOUT ME
The person behind the lens
When I'm not behind the camera, you'll find me enjoying aquafitness, gardening, or hiking outdoors, anything that keeps me active and close to nature. I live with my husband, our daughter, and our 17-year-old cat, Jaspurr, who has dementia but a very healthy appetite! I'm a social soul who loves spending time with family and friends, and I find joy in the small things,
especially colour.
